The Czech hockey community is mourning the tragic loss of Jakub Mládek, a talented young goaltender from SHKM Baník Hodonín who passed away on July 21, 2026, at the age of 20.
Jakub Mládek was widely respected for both his skill on the ice and his character off it. Born on December 22, 2005, he dedicated his entire hockey journey to SHKM Baník Hodonín, joining the club as a young child and progressing through every level of its youth system. His commitment and loyalty to the club were evident as he developed into a promising player, eventually earning a place with the men’s B team during the 2022–23 Czech 3. liga season.
Coaches and teammates remember Jakub as a hardworking and disciplined athlete who constantly strived to improve. Beyond his performances in goal, he was known for his positive attitude, humility, and the encouragement he offered to those around him.
