A tragic late-night road accident in Vrancea County has claimed the life of an 18-year-old passenger following a vehicle rollover during an overtaking attempt.

According to the Vrancea County Police Inspectorate (IPJ), the incident was reported through an emergency call to 112 at approximately 11:02 p.m. Preliminary investigations indicate that a 20-year-old driver was traveling from Panciu toward Haret when he attempted to overtake another vehicle. During the maneuver, he reportedly lost control of the car, which veered off the roadway and overturned.

The impact proved fatal for the front-right passenger, an 18-year-old man, who died at the scene due to the severity of the crash. The driver sustained injuries and received medical attention. Authorities confirmed that the driver was tested with a breathalyzer following the accident, and the result was negative, indicating no alcohol involvement at the time of the crash.

Police continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the accident, including speed, road conditions, and other potential contributing factors.
