The Barrington Hills, Illinois community is mourning the tragic loss of Colin Newman, 17, who died following a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning.
According to the Barrington Hills Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:20 a.m. to the intersection of Brinker Road and Hills & Dales Road after receiving reports of a serious rollover accident.
When first responders arrived, Colin Newman had been ejected from a Mercedes SUV. Despite emergency life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed his identity.
Two other occupants of the SUV survived the crash and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities have not released details about their conditions.
Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle was traveling northbound on Brinker Road when it left the roadway, struck several trees, and overturned. Officials believe speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
