According to the Lubbock Police Department, officers responded at approximately 1:59 a.m. to a residence in the 1900 block of East Auburn Street, near Parkway Drive inside Northeast Loop 289, following reports of a shooting. Investigators said Jones and another individual had arrived outside the home of a 65-year-old man, where a verbal confrontation reportedly escalated into a physical altercation. Police allege that the homeowner then shot Jones.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder. He remains in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center as the investigation continues.
